At Embassy Academy, near Devanahalli, learning is about exploring, creating and growing in every way. This philosophy came alive during our recent Fireless Cooking Competition, where primary students stepped into the shoes of little chefs, whipping up healthy and creative dishes that were not just delicious but also nutritious.
Under the guidance of their teachers, the students took on the challenge of preparing a variety of dishes such as vibrant fruit platters, creative salads, fruit charts and innovative sandwiches, bursting with flavours. Without the need for heat, the children were free to experiment with fresh fruits, vegetables, and other wholesome ingredients. The results were nothing short of spectacular, with each dish showcasing a unique combination of colors, textures, and flavours.
But the event wasn’tjust about cooking but more about experiential learning. From teamwork and self-expression to public speaking and presenting their ideas with confidence, the children gained skills that extend far beyond the kitchen. It was also an innovative way to teach Math, where they integrated concepts like measurements, fractions, proportions and time management into hands on activities. As they presented their creations to the judges and peers, the young chefs shared the health benefits of the ingredients they chose, reinforcing their understanding of how healthy nutritious food affects our well-being.
